Mulan is Disney animation about a story with a strong woman protagonist, who is Fa Mulan, directed by Tony Bancroft and Barry Cook in 1998. The film is based on Chinese legendary story of Hua Mulan. Overall of the film shows Chinese Confucian and traditional values with unique regulation, culture, and traditional system in their society. According to diegetic elements of Mulan which is defined as elements that consists of events, characters, objects, settings, and sounds in the story, the main event is a story about how Mulan who is not suitable for traditional woman role in Chinese ancient society overcomes the prejudice of gender role with exceptional behaviors as joining Chinese military troop secretly instead of her father who was wounded by former war. Disney is made up of many different entities in which they attract their consumers. History The Walt Disney Company has a prestigious history in the entertainment industry, stretching over 75 years. It started on October 16, 1923 as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, a joint venture of Walt Disney and his brother, Roy. Three years later the company had produced two movies and purchased a studio in Hollywood, California. Pitfalls in distribution rights nearly sank Walt and his company, but the creation of Mickey Mouse saved a sinking ship. By 1932, the Disney Company won its first Academy Award for Best Cartoon, for the Silly Symphony. 1934 marked the production of Disneys first full-length feature film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which released in 1937 and became the highest grossing film of its time. But afterwards, the expenses of production caused difficulties with the next few animated films; then the advent of World War II halted the production of films as the Walt Disney Company contributed its skills to the war effort. After the war it was difficult for the company to pick up where it had left off, but 1950 proved a turning point with the production of its first live-action film, Treasure Island and another animated film, Cinderella. In that time period, Disney also began several television series; in 1955, The Mickey Mouse Club also made its debut. 1955 also provided another landmark moment: the opening of the first California Disney theme park, Disneyland. Disney continued its rise in popularity, and survived even the death of its founder in 1966. His brother Roy took over supervision at that time, and then was succeeded by an executive team in 1971. Several more projects, from merchandising to the continuing production of animated and live-action films to the construction of more theme parks filled the years; in 1983, Disney went international with the opening of Tokyo Disneyland. In the past few decades, Disney has moved into a wider market, beginning The Disney Channel on cable and establishing subdivisions such as Touchstone Pictures to produce films other than the usual family-oriented fare, gaining a firmer footing on a broader range. In the 1970s and 1980s, the company suffered from takeover attempts, but eventually recovered; the recruiting of the current chairman, Michael D. Eisner, was crucial to that. Eisner and executive partner Frank Wells have been a successful team, leading Disney to continue its tradition of excellence into a new century. Euro Disney was expected to create up to 28,000 jobs, easing the 10 percent unemployment rate from the year prior to the opening of the park. In building the park, Disney also met a critical challenge in readying the park for its opening date, including everything from construction and operation, to marketing, hiring and training employees for the park. The â€Å"Disney University† was then opened at Euro Disney, with a goal to interview suitable candidates, select the best ones, and provided extensive training. Disney also attempted to hire employees of nationalities proportional to expected visitor counts (45% French, 30% other Europeans, 15% outside of Europe), but by the time of opening, it was 70 percent French. Yet, most cast members were paid roughly 15% above France’s minimum wage at that time. At the same time, Disney also cross-trained managers and supervisors to ensure service quality and consistent managerial practices. While European managers were trained at other theme parks, foreign managers were also sent to Euro Disney to work. Although Euro Disney mainly hired Europeans to work in the park, most of the top jobs and management positions were held in the hands of American expatriates. Nonetheless, the hiring process was heavily criticized by applicants, the press, and even the French unions. The controversy revolved around Disney’s grooming requirements. Disney enforced a strict dress code, a ban on facial hair and colored stockings, standards for neat hair and fingernails, and even a policy of â€Å"appropriate undergarments. † Applicants and labor leaders felt that requirements were excessive and much stricter than other employers. The efforts to force Disney to loosen the standards were unsuccessful. On the other hand, the Marne-La-Vallee area did not have enough apartment space for the thousands of Disney employees, and the jobs generally did not pay well enough to make decent housing affordable to these employees. As a result, Disney had to build its own apartment and renting rooms in the park area, adding millions of investment dollars to the entire project. Another big challenge Disney faced was getting the French cast members to break their ancient cultural aversions to smiling and being consistently polite to park guests. The individualist French had to be molded into the squeaky-clean Disney image. While Disney successfully staffed and trained cast members for the park by the time of the opening, more than 1,000 employees left their jobs within the first nine weeks of operation, about one-half of whom left voluntarily. The long hours and hectic pace of work at the park were also cited as major reasons for the turnover. One cast member explained that expatriate managers ceased to understand the European work habits and ethics, and the work mode was not one that the Euro Disney employees were used to in the past. There were other concerns raised by the French government regarding the operation of Euro Disney. While Disney assured that French would be the primary language of the park, most signs were actually bilingual, as were the park’s employees. More importantly, Disney followed one of its two major traditions of not serving wine, although wine to the Europeans (particularly the French) is like cheese to Americans. It was felt that this was a departure from the important French culture and lunch habits, causing weak attendance initially. There were also issues with visitors waiting long lines for rides or food, since there was no tolerance for such practices in France or Europe. Unlike Tokyo Disneyland, which experienced initial success, Euro Disney did not experience the exceeding-expectation turnout in terms of admissions and revenues. A major criticism was that park was neither international nor French in nature, and it failed to satisfy either party completely. Many visitors could not figure out whether it was going to be an American park, a French park, or a European park. Attendance was much lower than expected, and the company incurred financial loss. Even if revenues could be brought in line with projections for the balance of the year, the park still would not be profitable for another five years or so. There were comments about Euro Disney being out of character for the French population, because the French were too individualist and private to appreciate the standardized and crowded Disney theme park experience. While the Disney style of service was one with which Americans have grown up, there were several styles of service in Europe, and unbridled enthusiasm was not a marked feature of them. Macbeth Tragedy In order for a story to be considered a tragedy, it has to fit a certain description. The Greek playwright Aristotle was the first to define a tragedy. He said it was a story in which the protagonist (tragic hero) goes from fortunate to unfortunate circumstances because if his tragic flaw and fate working together. Macbeth fits these characteristics, and is a tragedy. In this play, the tragic hero is Macbeth. His tragic flaw is his weak morals, and his ability to be easily persuaded. These two things help to bring him down in many respects. First of all, he killed Duncan. Now, he would not have killed Duncan if his wife had not persuaded him. But, because of his tragic flaw, he was easily persuaded into killing the king. "When you durst do it, then you were a man; and to be more than what you were, you would be so much more the man." Lady Macbeth questions Macbeth's manhood, and because his morals are not strong, he succumbs to it. This is an instance of Macbeth's tragic flaw working to bring him down, because immediately after he kills the king, he feels awful. Also, when Macbeth's morals begin to degenerate more, he kills Banquo, and Lady Mcduff. These are definite signs of Macbeth's tragic flaw operating to bring him down. Another aspect of Macbeth that resembles a tragedy is fate operating to bring the tragic hero down. In this play, Macbeth is given his fate by the witches (that he is to become king), and immediately afterwards he is appointed the Thane of Cawdor, and is next in line to become king. "And for an earnest of a greater honor, he bade me, from him, call the Thane of Cawdor, in which addition, hail most worthy thane, for it is thane" When Ross tells Macbeth that he is the thane, Macbeth is amazed. It seems too good to be true. After that, Duncan tells him that he will be staying at Macbeth's house, giving him a perfect opportunity to kill him. Everything works out for Macbeth to kill Duncan, and this is how fate works to bring Macbeth down. Sure, even if all this happened, Macbeth would still have to be willing to kill the king, but if Macbeth were willing, and he wasn't given ample opportunity, it still probably wouldn't happen. So you see that it is necessary for the tragic flaw and fate to work together to bring down the tragic hero. The third characteristic of a tragedy that Macbeth shows is the tragic downfall. It is where the tragic hero goes from fortunate to unfortunate circumstances. It is what fate and the flaw is accomplishing by bringing the hero down. In this play, Macbeth starts out a war hero, the people love him, he has friends, and he gets along with the king and the other nobles. After his flaw and fate bring him down, after he kills Duncan, and becomes king, he ends up very miserably. His people hate him, he is considered a tyrant, and countries want to go to war with him. He eventually gets what he had coming, and Mcduff cuts his head off. With Macbeth's head on his sword, Mcduff exclaims, "Hail, King! For so thou art. Behold where stands TH' usurper's curs?d head. The time is free." Clearly, going from being a well-respected war hero to a headless tyrant is a downfall, so this characteristic is one that Macbeth certainly has. The story of Macbeth is one that is regarded as one of the most famous pieces of literature of all time, but some feel that it is not a tragedy. After reading this, one can clearly see how Macbeth fits the characteristics of a tragedy. The tragic hero's flaw is evident, fate clearly works to bring him down as well, and there is no doubt that he does not experience a downfall. These characteristics are what make Macbeth, and other stories, a tragedy.

Stark decide to keep his plight and substitutes Potts, who Stark Industries CEO with Natalie. By using an arc reactor as powering whip-like weapon, Vanko attacks Stark at the racing field. Starks able to subdued Vanko and get to know that he is the son of his fathers old partner. Vanko tells his desire to revenge on Stark family. Justin Hammer, rival defense contractor, rescues Vanko and hires him to complete a line of armored. Due to intervene from Stark, Rhodes wears up Starks Mark II armor to fight with him. The battle end up huge explosion while both fire repulsor beam and Rhodes returns the armor to the military. From Nick Fury, director of SHIELD, Stark knows that his father formed a SHIELD and disclosure Natalie as undercover agent. Stark discovers an encrypted message from his fathers old material which given by Fury and finally found the new element to replace the palladium. At the end, Stark promises to work as consultant if senators Stern awards Rhodes and him with medals for bravely, although Stern not willing to do so. The Economic Future in the Year 2000 The economy has performed exceptionally well for the past several years, combining rapid growth and very low unemployment with declining inflation. â€Å"Not only has the expansion achieved record length, but it has done so with far stronger growth than expected,† stated Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan in his remarks to the National Community Reinvestment Coalition annual conference in Washington (Business Week, The McGraw-Hill Companies, Economic Outlook, March 6,2000). Figures show that since 1996, the growth of GDP has averaged more than 4 percent, compared with an average of about 3 percent since 1973. Because of those four years of rapid growth, the unemployment rate has fallen to 4.1 percent, its lowest level since January 1970. Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation, excluding food and energy prices, had been vacillating at about 3 percent per year earlier in the decade but was roughly 2 percent over the past year (Bank of America, Economic in Brief, November 1, 1999). Much of the auspicious recent economic developments can be attributed to a surge in productivity growth. Alan Greenspan noted in his statement that output per hour in the non-financial corporate sector had increased since 1995 at nearly double the average pace of the preceding 25 years (First Union, Monthly Economic Outlook, March 7, 2000). This rapid productivity growth allowed the economy to grow at a faster pace without raising the rate of inflation. However, the growth of consumer demand is exceeding the increase of productivity—boosting employment, tightening labor markets, and raising concerns that recent growth rates may not be sustainable without sparking a rise in inflation. After spending the past several years, extolling the virtues of improved productivity in allowing higher growth with less inflation, the Federal Reserve Chairman, seemed to turn the tables in his Humphrey Hawkins testimony, stating that the spurt in productivity has produced expectation of hi gher profit growth, which, in turn, have resulted in higher equity valuations. That surge in equity prices is seen as the primary driver of the â€Å"wealth effect†, which he believes has created an â€Å"imbalance† between demand and supply, raising inflation pressures (Business Week, The McGraw-Hill Companies, Economic Outlook, March 6,2000). Speculations of this occurrence may over the long term indicate that the higher the trend growth of productivity, the lower the inflation rate—due to the restraint of labor costs.

In this, translator focuses more on the culture and linguistics expression. FORMAL EQUIVALENCE: Formal equivalence focuses attention on the message itself, in both form and content. While the translator is trying to find formal equivalence, he or she is closely following the form, content and structure. LEGAL TRANSLATION Legal translation is the translation of texts within the field of law. As law is a culture-dependent subject field, the work of legal translation and its products are not necessarily linguistically transparent. It is important to note almost all the original drafts at the centre and states level are usually prepared in English and then got translated into Hindi. But the original’ text (i. e. the English version) is called the ‘translated text’, whereas the translated text (i. e. the Hindi version) is known as the ‘original one. Points to be taken care at time of translation Only professional translators specializing in legal translation should translate legal documents The translator should be aware of the legal system of the source text (ST) as it is structured in a way that suits that culture Similarly, the target text (TT) is to be read by someone who is familiar with the other legal system and its language. The translator should neither add nor subtract anything from his side. He should not give a word for word translations but grasp the original meaning. The History of the Compass and Other Magnetic Innovations A compass is an instrument containing a freely suspended magnetic element that displays the direction of the horizontal component of Earths magnetic field at the point of observation. Its been used to help people navigate for many centuries. Located in the same part of the public imagination as sextants and telescopes, its actually been in use for a lot longer than the sea voyages that discovered North America. The use of magnetism in inventions doesnt stop there, though; its found in everything from telecommunications equipment and motors to the food chain. Discovery Large deposits of magnetic oxides were found in the district of Magnesia in Asia Minor thousands of years ago; their location led to the mineral receiving the  name of magnetite (Fe3O4), which was nicknamed lodestone. In 1600,  William Gilbert published De Magnete, a paper on magnetism that details the use and properties of magnetite. Ferrites, or magnetic oxides, are stones that attract iron and other metals. These are natural magnets and are not inventions. However, the machines that we make with magnets are inventions. Magnetic Compass The magnetic compass is actually  an old Chinese invention, probably first made in China during the Qin dynasty (221–206 B.C.). Back then, the Chinese used lodestones (which align themselves in a north-south direction) to construct fortune-telling boards. Eventually, someone noticed that the lodestones were better at pointing out real directions, which led to the creation of the first compasses. The earliest compasses were designed on a square slab that had markings for the cardinal points and the constellations. The pointing needle was a spoon-shaped lodestone device with a handle that would always point south. Later on, magnetized needles were used as direction pointers instead of the spoon-shaped lodestones. These appeared in the eighth century A.D.- again in China- and between 850 and 1050. Compasses as Navigational Aids In the 11th century, compasses use as navigational devices on ships seemed to have become common. The magnetized-needle compasses used in navigation could be wet (in water), dry (on a pointed shaft), or suspended (on silk thread) and were used by voyagers, such as those traders who traveled to the Middle East, and were used by early navigators to locate the magnetic North Pole or pole star. Electromagnetism In 1819,  Hans Christian Oersted  reported that when an  electric current  in a wire was applied to a magnetic  compass  needle, the magnet was affected. This is called  electromagnetism. In 1825, British inventor William Sturgeon (1783–1850) displayed the power of the electromagnet by lifting nine pounds with a seven-ounce piece of iron wrapped with wires through which the current of a single-cell battery was sent. This device laid the foundation for large-scale  electronic communications, as it led to the invention of the telegraph. It also resulted in the invention of the electric motor.   Cow Magnets U.S. patent #3,005,458 is the  first patent  issued for a cow magnet. It was issued to Louis Paul Longo, the inventor of the Magnetrol Magnet, for the prevention of hardware disease in cows. If cows happen to consume scrap pieces of metal, such as nails, when theyre feeding, the foreign objects can cause internal damage to their digestive tract. Cow magnets keep the metal pieces confined to the cows first stomach, rather than traveling to the later stomachs or intestines, where the fragments can cause the most damage.

As the Europeans entered Congo by the grace of the king, Dom Affonso, they would find their greatest good to sell and trade, slaves. Many Africans were forced into to slavery, sold to the highest bidder. This is how white Europeans profited so much. Many of the noblemen and their sons were kidnapped and forced to serve as slaves to other merchants. Many Africans pleaded with the king to pass a law that stated, any white man that want to profit from selling goods that wanted to live in Congo would have to inform the three noblemen. If any white man did not comply with these rules and regulations would lose all of their goods. Many merchants claimed they took care of their slaves by not branding the women as hard as the men and discarding the unhealthy ones. The women slaves were also cheaper than the males. On the other hand, French, Portuguese, and English slave owners would not get what they asked for in trade for the slaves. In return, the master would take everything from the slaves, including their clothes and feed them only bread and water three times a day. They had to feed six to seven hundred slaves on board a ship. You can imagine the small rations the slaves were served. Then, the masters would send them to the merchants skin and bones, not in good shape to do the manual labor they would probably have to do. Enslaved Africans were usually kidnapped. Many Africans were trained at an early age to fight and protect the house. Sometimes the youngest ones were taken and forced into slavery. ...
